Your Expression in the World
"There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening, that is translating through you into action. And because there is only one of you in all time, the expression is unique. If you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, nor how valuable it is, nor how it compares with others' expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work, you have to keep open and aware, directly to the urges that motivate you." ~Letter from Martha Graham to fellow dancer Agnes DeMille...
["Exemplifies the possibility and the promise that is held out to those who endeaver to find and honor their calling..." -Rick Jarow, excerpt from The Ultimate Anti-Career Guide]
What did you feel reading these words by Martha Graham? I felt waves feeling.. something deep within me touched, remembered, activated. What was I waiting for, what are you waiting for. What brought out my expressions (the work and play I expression in the world), was when I began writing this down, on paper (not on my computer screen - there's something magical about how a pen releases the ink to meet the page), seven times each day for 21 days. The practice of this became a meditation I could not allow myself to miss, it was like a spiritual vitamin, building up and strengthening my energy, my vibration, my feeling. I started noticing that the words and feelings that kept coming up, depleting me and sucking the energy out of my inspiration started becoming like an annoying backseat driver. Then they transformed to distant sensations that I could feel were weaker as I became stronger energetically. Now, I notice them with curiosity and wonder... what gifts might they hold?
This has been my experience. What's yours? If you adopt this practice, this 21 day assignment, what might unfold for you? What new perceptions and perspectives might you discover? Let me know what happens for you along your way... either through a comment below or by email: http://www.DynamicLifeNow.com/Contact.html.
Go ahead, put your boat in the water right where you are... perhaps you'll surprise yourself, more than you imagine
